The homeowner of this 1998 Medford, OR, house has been residing there since 2015. Recently, their driveway has experienced significant settling and cracking, primarily due to voids created by heavy equipment and debris from a previous roofing job. This settling has led to concerns about compliance with permits or safety codes, especially when they plan to sell the property. Our System Design Specialist, Patrick Dunn, promptly assessed the home. He identified that the driveway had settled and snapped off due to voids beneath it. This issue began when a large dumpster, used during a roofing project, was placed on the driveway. The weight of the dumpster and the subsequent removal process initiated a crack. Additional damage occurred when a belt truck drove over the area, worsening the crack. Over time, water infiltrated the crack, creating more voids and leading to further collapse.
