A homeowner in Portland, Oregon, reached out to TerraFirma to address persistent water intrusion in their basement. Despite previous attempts to waterproof the exterior of the home, water continued to seep inside, threatening the structure’s integrity and the basement’s functionality.
System Design Specialist Ryan Bothman inspected the property and identified several contributing factors. The existing exterior waterproofing methods were ineffective, and water intrusion was especially noticeable during storms and heavy rain. He also observed that the discharge line ended too close to the home’s foundation, allowing water to re-saturate the surrounding soil and make its way back into the basement. To address these issues, Ryan recommended extending the discharge line by 3 feet to ensure water was directed a safe distance from the foundation. He also proposed the installation of an interior perimeter drainage system to provide a long-term solution for managing future water intrusion.
With a clear plan in place, Foreman Bryon Huaraque and his skilled crew began the repair process. They extended the discharge line, rerouting water far enough from the foundation to prevent re-saturation and minimize the risk of further intrusion.
